This looks like too much fun!

bike + camera = cool videos I am so totally doing this! I think it will motivate me to get out on the bike a bit more often. Of course, I'll do it with my "old" point and shoot camera, not my new DSLR, but it usually works out pretty well. I think my Dad has an old, little digital P&S that he doesn't use.

Recognizing your friends

OK, I have known for some time now that the group of virtual folks I hang out with over at kickrunners.com is a lot of fun. I have also known for quite some time that they are a great group of people. I know that among the ones I have actually met in person, 100% are people I am happy to call my friends. These are people that upon finding out my wife was in the hospital have been making sure I knew they were thinking of me, praying for me and in general sending out "good vibes". There are people I know and see on a daily basis that have not shown that much concern and that just goes to show you that if "home is where the heart is" then "friends can be people you've never met."

A Game: Week 5

OK, For the Week 4, we again have no winner for now. That means the standings are: Frankie - 1 Mary - 1 Me - 2 Week 4 will remain without a winner. I think I can find out whose car the week 4 plate belongs to. If so, I will ask them and award points later. If any more guesses come in, I will consider it (if I notice it, so if you think you figured it out, send me an email or post the guess in a current entry and label it Week 4 Guess.) Also, you may have noticed that I am using the word "week" very loosely. It will be at least 7 calendar days for each contest, and I will try to keep it to less than 2 weeks. The week 5 entry may be easier (or not, you never know): Good luck!

OK, For the Week 3, we have no winner. That means the standings are: Frankie - 1 Mary - 1 Week 3 will remain without a winner. If a later suggestion comes in, I will consider it (if I notice it, so if you think you figured it out, send me an email or post the guess in a current entry and label it Week 3 Guess.) Here is the entry for this week:

Iron Burnout

Before I ran my first HM, my coach told me about post-race depression that could make it hard to keep running. I didn't experience it then. I figured 9 months later after my first marathon I would encounter it. I didn't then either. Nor after my second, third or fourth marathons in the subsequent 14 months. Not even after a rough first Half-Ironman where the altitude slowed my run to a personal worst HM time of 3 hours. So I guess I was due. I had not missed more that a few days of running, biking or swimming for about 3 years. I had planned on taking it easy after my IM debut in April. I hadn't figured on taking it this easy for this long. I have not been on my bike since April and have been swimming only once or twice. I did get back to running 3 days a week a few times, but have not gone above about 6 miles at a time and it has been hit-or-miss lately. Getting motivated to run in the summer in the desert is hard, but I am trying to do it. My plan is to make p

Personalized Plate Survey

Let's give this survey a shot. Will you try it and pass the link along to as many people as you can? I'd like to max out the 100 participant limit on this survey to get some interesting data. Click Here to take survey
